Dennis Parker - Stories Behind the Engine

Dennis Parker Story

We recently fulfilled our passion to work on the RV-9D, a modified Van’s RV-9A equipped with a Continental CD-155 Jet-A diesel engine. We built the aircraft in Cape Town with the team at Robin Coss Aviation, combining our experience with RVs and striving to enhance power and efficiency through modern diesel technology. With engineering support from Continental and insights from industry experts, we successfully integrated the CD-155 into the airframe. We made several adjustments to maintain optimal balance and performance, and the outcome was rewarding. The RV-9D now cruises at 165 knots at 10,000 feet while consuming just 7.2 gallons per hour. From the initial concept to the test flights, this project has demonstrated what’s achievable when innovation is supported by reliability. We are pleased to have Continental involved in this journey and be part of the legacy we’re creating in experimental aviation. – Dennis Parker
